#UACFOOTBALL -- Record-setting rushing performances paired with some personal bests were the driving forces behind the selections for the United Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week honors. Tarleton State's Kayvon Britten (Offense) busted the record book en route to his second weekly award of the season, while Central Arkansas' TaMuarion Wilson (Defense) made his presence felt in various ways. Austin Peay picked up a pair of honorees following their first win of the season with Romon Copeland Jr. (Specialist) and Corey Richardson (Freshman) garnering recognitions.
Named the FCS National Offensive Player of the Week, Britten rushed for UAC single game marks of 273 yards and four rushing touchdowns. The senior running back averaged 13.0 yards per carry and 21 totes in Texans' 28-14 UAC road win at North Alabama in its conference opener.
Wilson, a senior safety, finished with three tackles, a sack, an interception, a forced fumble and a pass breakup in UCA's 56-17 win over UAPB. He returned his interception, the seventh of his career, 42 yards for a touchdown that was called back due to a penalty on the return (interception stood). Wilson was one of the key forces for a Bears' defense unit that held the Golden Lions to just 63 rushing yards.
Graduate transfer wideout Copeland Jr., totaled 152 combined kick return yards against Alabama A&M, which is the most by a Gov since 2017. Copeland also added 96 punt return yards, the second-best single-game mark in Austin Peay history, highlighted by an 82-yard return for a touchdown.
Richardson, a true freshman running back, carried the ball nine times for 102 yards and a touchdown in APSU's win over Alabama A&M. He scored his first-career touchdown, a 13-yard rush in the fourth quarter, and averaged 11.3 yards per carry with a long run of 45 yards. Richardson is the first Govs true freshman to rush for 100-plus yards since 2017.
