ARLINGTON, Texas – San Diego State’s Robbie Matei and California Baptist’s Hugo Do Rego have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Soccer Offensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, for the match week ending on Monday, Sept. 23.

Matei, a senior forward, was an impact performer for San Diego State in a spirited 3-3 draw with UC Davis on Sept. 21. Matei contributed an assist to the opening Aztec goal just 16 seconds into the match and added a go-ahead goal at 54:46 to complete a three-point effort. The second half tally was Matei’s third overall goal of the season.

Do Rego, a sophomore goalkeeper, turned in a solid performance for CBU in a hard luck 1-0 defeat at Loyola Marymount on Sept. 20. Do Rego was credited with 12 saves, which included nine stops in the second half, to keep the Lancers within one goal in the contest. Do Rego was the WAC leader in save percentage (.818 with 45 saves) as of Sept. 24.
