ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley’s Nixan Jackson, Mia Owens, and CJ Graham have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Soccer Offensive Player, Defensive Player, and Goalkeeper of the Week, for the match week ending on Monday, Sept. 23.
 
Jackson, a sophomore forward, led Utah Valley to a commanding 5-0 win over rival Weber State by scoring two goals in the first 20 minutes of the match. Jackson’s brace was her first two goals of the season. Jackson was also able to apply the pressure against San Diego State as she accumulated six shots with two on goal.
 
Owens, a sophomore defender, played a key role in back-to-back wins for the Wolverines by consistently making stops on the defensive end of the field which led to long passes down to the offensive side for scoring opportunities as UVU outshot Weber State 21-6 and San Diego State 31-9. Over the two matches, the Wolverines allowed just two goals and only seven shots on goal. Owens also made an impact offensively, scoring a goal against Weber State and recording an assist in each match.
 
Graham, a senior goalkeeper, backstopped Utah Valley to two wins last week, making four saves and allowing only two goals over the two matches. She earned the shutout win over Weber State, making two saves, and followed up with two more saves in the 4-2 road win at San Diego State. Graham’s steady presence in goal helped UVU extend its win streak to three games.
