ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington’s Matro Jepkemboi and Abilene Christian’s Andruw Villa have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Cross Country Athletes of the Week, for the meet week ending on Saturday, Sept. 7.
 
Jepkemboi, a sophomore standout, played a pivotal role in UT Arlington’s strong showing as the host of the Gerald Richey UTA Invitational on Sept. 7. Her second-place finish in the women’s 3.12-mile race, clocking in at 17:33.9 and a swift pace of 5:37.8 per mile, set the tone for UTA's third-place finish.
 
On the men’s side, freshman Andruw Villa of Abilene Christian made a significant impact by taking third place individually with a time of 14:58.6 in the men’s 3.12-mile race at the Gerald Richey UTA Invitational on Sept. 7, averaging 4:48.0 per mile. Villa’s effort was a driving force behind ACU’s third-place team finish.
