ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley’s Ella Hopper and Alyssa Logan have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the competition week ending on Thursday, Jan. 11.

Hopper, a junior, earned her first weekly track honor after a record-breaking performance in the 400 meters at the BYU Cougar Invitational. She won the event with a time of 55.12 (converted from 55:01), setting a new Utah Valley school record. Her time is the fastest in the WAC this season, ranks second in the Mountain Region, and is 22nd nationally.

Also a junior, Logan proved dominant in the field events by breaking her school record in the weight throw at the same meet. Her winning throw of 18.58m (60-11.50) is the top mark in the WAC this season and ranks second in the NCAA Mountain Region.
