ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley’s Dominick Nelson has been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Saturday, Jan. 25.

Nelson, a junior transfer guard, led Utah Valley to a West Coast road sweep that extended the Wolverines’ active winning streak to 10 straight games overall. Nelson led the WAC with 20.5 points per game scored last week, hitting 57.1 percent of his field goal attempts that included a 62.5 percent clip (5-of-8) from 3-point range. Nelson chipped in 7.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest. Nelson scored a game-high 25 points to help Utah Valley erase a 12-point halftime deficit in a 74-69 victory at California Baptist on Jan. 23. Nelson contributed 16 points and eight rebounds to the cause, including late free throws at the end of the game, to salt away a 70-66 triumph at Seattle U on Jan. 25.
