ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Tyon Grant-Foster and California Baptist’s AJ Braun have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Saturday, Jan. 4.

Grant-Foster, a graduate guard, scored a season-high 23 points to lead GCU to an 82-71 win over Southern Utah in the WAC opener on Jan. 4, the fifth straight win overall for the Lopes dating back to Dec. 19. Grant-Foster added nine rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots to his stat line in the win over Southern Utah, finishing the first half with 12 points, five boards and two steals to help GCU build a 41-31 lead at the break.

Braun, a senior transfer forward, registered his third double-double of the year by tallying 16 points and 12 rebounds (four offensive) for CBU in a 61-59 conference win against Seattle U on Jan. 4. Braun tallied 11 points, seven rebounds and a blocked shot in the second half to lead the Lancers to a comeback win after trailing 30-27 at halftime.
