ARLINGTON, Texas –UT Arlington’s Avery Brittingham and Koi Love have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Saturday, Jan. 4.
 
Brittingham, a fifth year forward, picked up her WAC-leading sixth double-double of the year in UT Arlington’s conference opening 87-79 win over Tarleton State. Brittingham recorded a season high of 22 points along with 13 rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal where she played a season-high 39 minutes. Brittingham holds the second-best rebounding average in the WAC with 9.4 boards per game.
 
Love, a fifth year transfer forward, scored the most points in the league’s opening week of conference-play with 29 against the Texans en route to her third consecutive WAC Newcomer of the Week honor. Love’s 29 points was a season high and was tied for the third-best scoring performance in the WAC this season. Love also posted seven rebounds, three assists, three blocks, a steal and was near perfect from the free-throw line making 6-of-7 shots. Love remains second in the conference in scoring this year averaging 17.5 points per game.
