UTAH VALLEY WINS DOUBLE OVERTIME THRILLER IN ABILENE
The first WAC women's basketball game of 2025 provided all the excitement and drama as conference play kicked off with a double-overtime thriller where Utah Valley prevailed over Abilene Christian 64-63, ending the Wildcats' nine-game winning streak. Graduate forward
Danja Stafford Collins was the hero for UVU as she not only forced overtime with a putback under a second remaining in regulation, but also made the game-winning shot in the second overtime with 1.2 seconds left on the clock. The leading rebounder in the conference collected a career-high 18 points along with 11 boards for her third double-double of the season. Redshirt senior guard

GRAND CANYON TAKES 12TH STRAIGHT VICTORY
Grand Canyon opened conference play on the road at Southern Utah and came away with the victory 75-57. The Lopes extended their winning streak to 12 games, the sixth longest active streak in the country. The national leader in 3-pointers,
Alyssa Durazo-Frescas scored 21 points on six 3's to improve her season total to 66 made shots beyond the arc. Durazo-Frescas is only one of two players in the country to average four or more 3-pointers a game.
CALIFORNIA BAPTIST PREVAILS IN KHLOE LEMON'S RETURN
Sophomore guard
Khloe Lemon made her season debut for California Baptist after missing the entire non-conference slate rehabbing from an injury and recorded a game-high 18 points to lead the Lancers to a conference opening 70-64 victory over Seattle U. Lemon was efficient on the court as she shot 4-of-7 from the field, 3-of-4 from 3-point range, and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line in just 20 minutes of work. Lemon was one of five Lancers to post double figure scoring as the defending WAC tournament champs took their fifth straight conference opener.
UT ARLINGTON'S DYNAMIC DUO SWEEPS WAC WEEKLY HONORS AFTER STRONG CONFERENCE OPENER
The top three scorers from the WAC's opening day of conference play came from Arlington as the Lady Mavs' high-powered offense took down Tarleton State 87-79. UTA was led by the dynamic duo of
Avery Brittingham and
Koi Love who combined for 51 points and swept this week's WAC Player and Newcomer of the Week awards. Brittingham collected her sixth double-double of the season with 22 points and 13 rebounds, leading the WAC in the double-double category. Love led the league with 29 points last Saturday, which is a season-high for Love and is tied for the third best scoring performance in the WAC this season. Love has taken three consecutive Newcomer of the Week awards and has won four of the last five awards.
