ARLINGTON, Texas –Utah Valley’s Sami Blackett, Evalyn Chism and Lani Matavao have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Volleyball Player, Setter and Libero of the Week, for the match week ending on Sunday, Oct. 12.
 
Blackett, a sophomore outside hitter, notched a double-double in Utah Valley’s 3-0 sweep over UT Arlington with 15 digs and 12 kills while recording a .370 hitting percentage. Blackett led the WAC last week in digs per set (5.00/set), points per set (4.67/set) and kills per set (4.00/set). Blackett is currently ranked second in the conference in WAC play points per set with 4.23.
 
Chism, a junior setter, finished the match versus UTA with 22 assists (7.33/set) along with seven digs, two service aces and a kill. Chism assisted Utah Valley to a .307 team hitting percentage against the Mavericks, last week’s best in the WAC.
 
Matavao, a junior libero, nabs her second consecutive WAC Libero of the Week honor after collecting 14 digs (4.67/set) against UTA, leading all the conference liberos in digs per set for the second straight week. Matavao continues to lead the WAC in digs per set in conference games with 4.15.
