ARLINGTON, Texas – Southern Utah’s Sierra Chambers and California Baptist’s Lauren Olsen have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Nov. 16.
 
Chambers, a sophomore guard, averaged 18.5 points per game last week, the second most in the WAC, and has posted at least 14 points in each of the first four games of the season. Chambers boosted Southern Utah to a win over Eastern Washington with 18 points and three assists while shooting .500 (8-of-16) from the field. Chambers shot a perfect 10-of-10 from the charity line against Idaho where she totaled 19 points with five assists and four rebounds.
 
Olsen, a freshman guard, registered the most points per game in the league last week with 19.0 points, scoring all of her points off the bench in two California Baptist victories. Olsen recorded 15 points and five rebounds against Long Beach State, and followed with 23 points, four assists and four steals versus San Jose State where she notched a .500 (8-of-16) field goal percentage. Olsen was one of six WAC players to knock down six 3-pointers over the week, finishing with a .429 (6-of-14) 3-point percentage.
