Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above WAC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week Announced

ARLINGTON, Texas – California Baptist’s Filipa Barros and Utah Tech’s Kaylee Borden have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Nov. 23.
 
Barros, a redshirt-junior guard, led California Baptist to an 86-54 victory over CSUN as she notched a season-high 23 points and posted her fourth game of double-digit rebounds this season with 11 against the Matadors. Barros made a career-high six 3-pointers in the contest, tied for the most shots made beyond the arc in a game this season in the WAC. Barros’ third double-double on the year is tied for the most in the conference, and her fourth 10-rebound game is the most in the league. Barros currently leads the WAC in rebounding (11.80), assists (5.60), steals (4.80) and assist/turnover ratio (1.75).
 
Borden, a redshirt-senior guard from Nevada, collected her third 20-point game of the season with a career-high 25 points in Utah Tech’s 71-63 win over Portland State. Borden went 9-of-16 from the floor, made 5-of-7 at the foul line, and registered five boards along with three assists in 36 minutes of game action. Borden currently leads the WAC in scoring with 20.00 points per game and is the only player in the conference to have three 20-point games so far this season.
