CALIFORNIA BAPTIST BEGINS THE SEASON 5-0 FOR FIRST TIME IN OVER 10 YEARS
California Baptist picked up its fifth straight win to kick off the 2025-26 season following a strong 86-54 victory over CSUN last Wednesday. The Lancers start the season 5-0 for the first time since 2013, remaining the only unbeaten team in the WAC this year.
Filipa Barros was named the WAC Player of the Week for her performance against the Matadors where she recorded a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds along with seven assists. Barros made a career-high six shot from beyond the arc and made seven total shots from the field on 11 attempts.
TRACY MASON PICKS UP CAREER WIN 100 IN SOUTHERN UTAH OVERTIME WIN
Southern Utah’s
Tracy Mason collected her 100th career win as a head coach in the Thunderbirds’ 85-80 overtime victory at Cal Poly. Freshman
Devyn Kiernan led the Thunderbirds with a career-high 22 points and posted three blocks, three assists, two steals and two rebounds. Southern Utah is marking itself as one of the best shooting teams in the conference as it leads the WAC in field goal percentage (.440), 3-point field goal percentage (.364) and free throw percentage (.759).
UT ARLINGTON EMERGES VICTORIOUS OVER TEXAS A&M IN HAWAII
UT Arlington completed its Hawaii North Shore Showcase where the Lady Mavs picked up two wins in three games including a buzzer-beating victory over Texas A&M 61-60. The win gave the Lady Mavs their first victory over the Aggies since 1976 as well as their first win against an SEC opponent since defeating Ole Miss in December 2006. UTA was led by
Kira Reynolds and
Nya Threatt who combined for 39 of the team’s 61 points. Reynolds knocked down the buzzer-beating put-back with just one second left on the clock to secure the victory for UT Arlington and hand Texas A&M its first loss of the season.
ABILENE CHRISTIAN SCORES 18 POINTS IN FINAL THREE MINUTES TO DEFEAT UNT
Abilene Christian defeated North Texas 60-51 last Wednesday as the Wildcats used a strong late surge to score 22 points in the final quarter against the Mean Green including 18 points in the final three minutes of the game. ACU was able to capitalize at the charity stripe in the fourth quarter, making 15-of-20 shots from the free-throw line. Four Wildcats finished with double-digit scoring led by
Payton Hull who posted 16 points, her 25th game in a row scoring more than 10 points.
UTAH TECH’S BORDEN DROPS 25 ON PORTLAND STATE
Utah Tech took down Portland State 71-63 last Saturday to improve the Trailblazers’ record to 3-1, best start to a season after four games in the program’s D-I era. The Trailblazers were backed by a career-high 25-point performance from this week’s WAC Newcomer of the Week,
Kaylee Borden. Borden notched her third 20-plus point game of the season, becoming the only player in the WAC to have three 20-point games so far this year.
