WAC PLAY TO BEGIN ON MONDAY!
The 2025-26 women’s basketball non-conference schedule has come to a close and WAC-play is set to begin tomorrow Dec. 29. The first slate of conference matches includes two in-state rivalries with Utah Tech at Southern Utah along with UT Arlington at Tarleton State. Utah Valley will travel to California Baptist, and Abilene Christian will begin its conference season on Jan. 1 when they head to St. George to take on the Trailblazers.
 
WILDCATS SWEEP THE ABILENE CHRISTIAN CHRISTMAS CLASSIC
Abilene Christian swept its home Christmas Classic as the Wildcats defeated Montana 60-48 and Buffalo 72-48 to wrap up their non-conference schedule. Meredith Mayes dropped 24 points against Montana as the junior center made 11 shots on 15 attempts from the field for a 73.3 field goal percentage. Payton Hull and Erin Woodson each notched double-digit scoring in both games as Hull averaged 15.5 points per game with Woodson averaging 13.0 points per game. The Wildcats finished tied with Southern Utah for the best non-conference record in the WAC at 8-4.
 
SOUTHERN UTAH’S UHRICH NAMED LMU CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT MVP
Ava Uhrich of Southern Utah was named last week’s WAC Player of the Week and the LMU Christmas Tournament MVP after recording 24.5 points per game and leading the Thunderbirds to a win over Omaha 80-47. Uhrich scored 23 points against Omaha and followed with a season-high 26 points against LMU as the junior forward registered a 67.9 field goal percentage (19-of-28) in the tournament. Uhrich concluded the non-conference slate leading the WAC in rebounding (8.83) and ranking second in the league in field goal percentage (46.6).
 
WAC IN THE NATIONAL STATISTICAL RANKINGS
Utah Valley has worked its way to becoming the best stealing team in the country, leading the nation in steals per game (18.1) and turnovers forced per game (29.45). The Wolverines are also fifth in the turnover margin (11.55). UT Arlington shows its defensive strength from beyond the arc as the Lady Mavs rank third in the nation in 3-point percentage defense (22.5).
