ARLINGTON, Texas – Seattle U’s Brayden Maldonado has been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Saturday, Feb. 8.

Maldonado, a junior transfer guard, shot a red-hot percentage for Seattle U in a crucial homestand sweep against Tarleton State and UT Arlington. Maldonado averaged 22.0 points, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 70.0 percent from the floor that included a blazing 72.2 percent from 3-point range. Maldonado poured in 18 points on 6-of-8 made 3’s to go along with three rebounds, six assists and two steals in a 91-54 rout of Tarleton State on Feb. 6. Maldonado exploded for 26 points on 7-of-10 made 3-pointers and two steals in a 67-65 last-second victory over UT Arlington on Feb. 8.
