ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington’s Kailee Bautista and Grand Canyon’s Taryn Batterton have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Feb. 9.
 
Bautista, a junior catcher, started in all five games in UT Arlington’s 4-1 opening weekend and collected a home run, three doubles, eight RBIs and four runs scored. Bautista started the season strong by going 2-for-3 with a home run, one double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Bautista recorded at least one RBI in each of UTA’s wins and reached base safely each game. She finished the weekend with a .385 batting average and an OPS of 1.375.
 
Batterton, a junior right-handed pitcher, pitched 11.2 innings of shutout ball, going 2-0 and allowing just three hits over the weekend. The highlight of the week for Batterton was her five-inning no-hitter against Colgate on Friday night where she struck out five and only walked one batter. Batterton ended the week with 12 K’s over three appearances in the pitching circle.
