ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley’s Quincy Bonds and Grand Canyon’s Taryn Burkett have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, for the competition week ending on Saturday, Feb. 8.

Bonds, a senior, had an impressive showing in the 60-meter hurdles at the Wolf Pack Classic in Reno. Bonds broke her own record in the 60 hurdles, clocking a time of 8.19 in the final, surpassing her previous PR by one-tenth of a second. She also led the prelims with a time of 8.31, maintaining her top rankings in the WAC for the 60m, 200m, and 60 hurdles, and securing the 30th rank in the NCAA for the 60 hurdles.

Burkett earned the conference’s top field performer title for the third consecutive week following yet another record-breaking performance in the triple jump at the Riverfront Invitational & Multis. Burkett set a school record for the third straight weekend, leaping to 13.28m, the best in the WAC this season and 16th ranked in the NCAA. Her mark of 13.28m also broke the GCU triple-jump record previously set by her in the preceding two weekends.
