ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Justin Raines and Tarleton State’s Sir Jonathan Sims have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, for the competition week ending on Saturday, Feb. 8. 

Raines, a senior, excelled at the Riverfront Invitational & Multis. He posted a time of 20.79 in the 200m, securing the top rank in the WAC and 15th in the NCAA. Raines also competed in the 60m, ranking first in the WAC and 47th in the NCAA. 

Sims, a junior, showcased his skills at the Steve Miller Invitational. He set a long jump school and facility record, clearing 12.68m. This mark is the best in the WAC this season and placed him 21st in the NCAA for long jump. Additionally, his achievements in the triple jump placed him first in the WAC and 25th nationally.
