ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Trinity San Antonio and Seattle U’s Candy Edokpaigbe have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Saturday, Feb. 15.
 
San Antonio, a senior guard, claimed her second WAC Player of the Week honor this season after leading Grand Canyon to their 21^st and 22^nd consecutive wins. San Antonio averaged 25.5 points, 5.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 56.7 percent from the floor and 93.8 percent (15-of-16) from the charity stripe. San Antonio set a season-high of 27 points against Tarleton State, tying the single game-high of any Lope this season. She followed that up with 24 points against UT Arlington, 20 coming in the second half of the game. San Antonio is tied for the most 20-point games in the WAC with seven on the year.
 
Edokpaigbe, a freshman guard, averaged a near double-double last week with 18.0 points and 9.5 rebounds along with 2.5 blocks, 2.0 steals and 1.5 assists per game. Edokpaigbe recorded her first collegiate double-double against Abilene Christian after scoring 15 points and grabbing a career-high 11 rebounds. She also picked up a career-high four steals against the Wildcats. Edokpaigbe collected multiple other career-highs against Tarleton State as she set a personal best in points (21), field goals made (9), blocks (3), and minutes (39).
