ARLINGTON, Texas – Tarleton State’s Emma Persson and the duo of Persson and Maretha Burger have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Tennis Players of the Week, for the competition week ending on Sunday, Feb. 16.

Persson bolstered her season credentials with a resilient performance over the past week. Despite a challenging start with a loss against Texas State, Persson rebounded strongly, securing a tightly contested two-set victory against an undefeated UTSA. Persson continued her winning streak into Sunday, dominating Incarnate Word in straight sets, including a decisive 6-0 second set. The accolades for Persson highlight her strong start to the season, adding to her impressive tally of 26 career singles wins at Tarleton State.

The doubles pair of Persson and Burger also excelled, maintaining an undefeated record for the week. They clinched a crucial match against UTSA with a 6-3 win and followed up with a tiebreaker victory over UIW. Their performance was instrumental in helping Tarleton State clinch the doubles point in all three of their matches this weekend.
