GRAND CANYON CONTINUES WINNING WAYS
Grand Canyon saw another successful weekend on its home field last week, going 4-1 with the one loss coming to #19 Oregon. Sophomore catcher Tinley Lucas was a big offensive force for the Lopes, hitting two home runs and collecting nine RBIs. Her two-out, three-run homer against Washington helped seal the win for GCU. Sophomore pitcher Maggie Place picked up a win and a save after going 10 innings in the circle racking up eight strikeouts and allowing just one earned run.

SEATTLE U SWEEPS WEEKLY AWARDS
Seattle U emerged from the CSUN Matador Classic with three wins in four games following some stellar performances from this week’s WAC Player of the Week, Taylor Fitch, and the WAC Pitcher of the Week, Nicola Simpson. Simpson went 16 innings in the pitching circle posting 18 K’s and not allowing a single earned run.

SHUTTING OUT THE COMPETITION
Part of Simpson’s strong weekend included her shutout victory versus Pacific where she picked up the win by going the distance and allowing just one hit in seven innings. Some other dominant pitching performances in the WAC included Southern Utah’s Keimon Winston who threw a complete game three-hit shutout against Oregon State and Abilene Christian’s Lina Russo who got ACU its first win of the season by going five scoreless innings against East Texas A&M while striking out six batters and giving up just one hit and one walk.
