ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Trinity San Antonio and Alyssa Durazo-Frescas have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Saturday, Feb. 22.
 
San Antonio, a senior guard, took her second consecutive WAC Player of the Week award after leading Grand Canyon to its 23^rd straight win and to a share of the regular season title with the victory over California Baptist. San Antonio reached 20 points for the third consecutive game and for four of the last five games. She also recorded seven steals, six assists, and four rebounds while knocking down three 3-pointers in the game at CBU. The steal mark was two shy of the GCU single game record. San Antonio moved into second in scoring in WAC-play, averaging 17.5 points per game.
 
Durazo-Frescas, a senior guard, claimed her third WAC Newcomer of the Week honor of the year as part of GCU’s nation-leading 23^rd consecutive victory. Durazo-Frescas made 7-of-12 (58.3 percent) from beyond the arc to score 21 points along with four rebounds, a steal and an assist. Durazo-Frescas moved her season total to 96 made 3’s on the season, now putting her 18 shy of tying Becky Hammon’s WAC single season record of 114 set in 1998-99. Durazo-Frescas continues to lead the nation with her 4.00 3-pointers per game.
