ARLINGTON, Texas – Tarleton State’s Austin Germain and Hannah Blincoe have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Feb. 23.
 
Germain, a senior infielder, batted .500 (7-for-14) in five games last week, helping the Texans to a 5-0 record in the Tarleton Invitational. Germain totaled five RBIs and seven runs scored off four doubles, one triple, and her first home run of the season. Germain was one of 15 players in the country to record four doubles last week. Her five RBIs and 16 total bases on the week gave her a slugging percentage of 1.143, the best in the WAC. In addition to her seven hits, Germain tallied six walks to post an on-base percentage of .650. Germain currently leads the WAC this season in batting average (.522), slugging percentage (.826), on-base percentage (.586) and doubles (9).
 
Blincoe, a senior right-handed pitcher, pitched the second WAC no-hitter of the season (first no-hitter to go a full seven innings) against New Mexico on Sunday, the 12^th no-hitter in program history for Tarleton State. Blincoe also picked up a win against Yale on Friday to go 2-0 on the week and improve her season record to 3-1. Across the two starts, Blincoe pitched 12.1 innings, struck out 17 and allowed only four earned runs off four hits and four walks. Blincoe holds the WAC’s second-lowest opposing batting average at .194.
