2025 WAC SB Week 4 Release

GRAND CANYON RECEIVING VOTES IN THE POLLS
Grand Canyon is making national noise and has received three votes in the ESPN/USA Softball Poll, the main softball poll recognized by the NCAA. The votes come after two run-rule victories and a two-run loss to #3 Florida last week, improving GCU’s record to 12-3. GCU also ranked fourth in the latest D1Softball Mid-Major Poll. The Lopes are putting their pitching display on national notice as they are one of two teams in the country with three pitchers at four wins at this point in the season (Taryn Batterton, Meghan Golden, and Maggie Place).

TARLETON STATE SWEEPS THE HOME INVITATIONAL AND THE WAC WEEKLY AWARDS
Tarleton State defended its home turf by going 5-0 in the Tarleton Invitational, collecting wins over Yale, Texas Southern (x2), North Dakota, and New Mexico. The highlight of the week for the Texans was Hannah Blincoe’s no-hitter against the Lobos. Blincoe threw seven innings of no-hit softball, struck out nine batters and improved her season record to 3-1. Blincoe and Texan teammate Austin Germain swept this week’s WAC Player of the Week awards after Germain batted .500 (7-for-14) on the week with five RBIs and seven runs scored. Germain is one of nine players in the country to have nine doubles.

ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM RECOGNITIONS
Seattle U’s Jasmine Wehn was selected to the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic All-Tournament Team after going 7-for-18 (.389) with six RBIs and three runs scored and leading the Redhawks to a 3-2 record in the tournament. Southern Utah’s Keimon Winston and Ariyana Miranda were named to the Easton Bama Bash All-Tournament Team. Winston made four appearances, threw 17.1 innings, allowed seven earned runs and struck out 11 while Miranda recorded a .308 batting average and knocked in four runs.

WAC IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Utah Tech has collected the third most hits in the country with 167 while Seattle U is ranked fourth in the nation in doubles (44) and California Baptist is ninth in triples (7). Grand Canyon’s pitchers have kept baserunners to a minimum as it is ranked fifth in WHIP (0.97).

FINAL WEEK OF NON-CONFERENCE
Week four will mark the final weekend of non-conference play before the WAC season begins on Friday, Mar. 7. The league has seen a large number of nationally ranked teams in the first half of the season and will look to use the lessons learned from those games and apply it to the conference season.
