ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Tyon Grant-Foster and UT Arlington’s Lance Ware have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Saturday, Feb. 1.

Grant-Foster, a graduate guard, powered GCU to a 2-0 week that included a win over previous conference unbeaten Utah Valley. Grant-Foster averaged 20.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game on 50.0 percent shooting, dishing out 1.5 assists and adding 1.5 blocks per game. Grant-Foster contributed a season-high 24 points and pulled down seven boards to go along with two blocks in an 83-74 win over Seattle U on Jan. 30. Grant-Foster logged 16 points, seven rebounds and two assists in a 75-57 victory versus Utah Valley on Feb. 1.

Ware, a graduate transfer forward, nearly averaged a double-double for UTA in a 2-0 week that ran the active winning streak for the Mavs to four consecutive games. Ware tallied 18.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 56.5 percent from the floor. Ware tied a career-high with 26 points, adding six rebounds and two steals in a 70-68 win against Southern Utah on Jan. 30. Ware posted his seventh double-double of the year with 10 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks and two steals in a 73-71 triumph over Utah Tech on Feb. 1.
