ARLINGTON, Texas –Seattle U’s Karen Spadafora and Abilene Christian’s Lina Russo have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Saturday, Mar. 15.
 
Spadafora, a sophomore catcher, extended her hitting streak to 10 straight games after leading Seattle U to its seventh consecutive win and a weekend sweep over Utah Tech. Spadafora collected six hits on 11 at-bats including two home runs, a double, and her first career triple for a weekend average of .545. Spadafora posted two games of three RBIs apiece and scored five runs for the Redhawks this weekend.
 
Russo, a right-handed senior pitcher, led Abilene Christian to its first conference series sweep of the season against Southern Utah where she pitched 15.0 innings without letting up a single earned run. Russo picked up two wins on the weekend including a no-hitter in game one of the SUU series after she struck out three and only allowed one walk. Russo struck out four in a complete-game shutout in game two and recorded her first save of the season in a 2-1 game three win.
