2025 WAC SB Week 7 Release
SEATTLE U WINNERS OF SEVEN STRAIGHT
Seattle U is off and rolling in conference play as the Redhawks have swept their first two WAC series and have climbed to the top of the WAC standings at 6-0. Seattle U has also marched its way up to No. 19 in the D1 Softball Mid-Major Top 25 after winning its last seven consecutive games.
RANK THE LOPES!
For the first time in program history, Grand Canyon was nationally ranked in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) poll, landing at No. 24. The Lopes were riding on a 10-game winning streak before falling to No. 10 Arizona in extra innings on Wednesday night. GCU was also ranked No. 2 in the Mid-Major Top 25 poll.
CONNECT FOUR-IN-A-ROW FOR UT ARLINGTON
UT Arlington has compiled a 4-2 start in WAC play and is the winner of 13 of its last 16 games, including its last four contests. The Mavericks are tied for the best home record (10 or more games) in the WAC so far this season as UTA has taken 10 wins in 12 games played at the Allen Saxe Softball Field.
RUSSO AND THE WILDCATS SWEEP SOUTHERN UTAH
After taking on one of the toughest non-conference slates to start the season, Abilene Christian is looking to build some momentum in WAC-play after coming off a sweep against Southern Utah. ACU’s pitching staff only allowed one Thunderbird run in the entire series, following some stellar performances from this week’s WAC Pitcher of the Week,
Lina Russo. Russo threw 15.0 of the series’ 21 total innings and pitched the fourth WAC no-hitter of the season in game one of the series.
WAC RPI RANKINGS
The WAC is off to a strong start in the 2025 softball season as all nine teams are ranked in the top 185 in the NCAA women’s softball RPI rankings. Grand Canyon leads the way at No. 42 with Seattle U (64) and UT Arlington (81) also in the top 100.
