2025 WAC SB Week 8 Release

SEATTLE U SWEEPS CREIGHTON, WINS TENTH STRAIGHT GAME
Seattle U kept on rolling last week, taking all three games in its series versus Creighton and improving its winning streak to 10 consecutive games. The Redhawks have won 15 of their last 18 games dating back to Feb. 21. Seattle U has moved up to 58th in the NCAA softball RPI rankings.

TARLETON STATE UPSETS THE RANKED LOPES ON THE ROAD
Tarleton State handed Grand Canyon its first home series loss since 2022 and first conference series loss since 2023 with a 5-2 rubber match victory on Saturday. Senior Hannah Blincoe tossed her third complete game shutout of the year in game one of the series, only the second time the Lopes have been shutout this season. Senior Kalyn Hill was awarded this week’s WAC Player of the Week after going 6-for-9 in the series with four RBI, three runs scored and two home runs.

SOUTHERN UTAH WALKS OFF CBU SERIES
Southern Utah earned the series win against California Baptist on Saturday in dramatic comeback fashion as the Thunderbirds walked off the Lancers after entering the seventh inning down 5-1. The T-Birds were able to string together three singles, a couple of walks and a double followed by the game-winning drive to deep centerfield from sophomore Belle Freund.

UT ARLINGTON WINS 14 INNING THRILLER
Neither UT Arlington nor Abilene Christian would give in on Friday as the Mavericks and Wildcats took a 3-3 tied ballgame into the 14th inning. UTA would walk it off in the bottom of the 14th by scoring on a wild pitch. Freshman Madi McDonnell picked up the win out of the bullpen for the Mavs after going 12 innings, allowing only two runs and striking out four.

COVER YOUR BASES FROM KIRK
Grand Canyon’s Savannah Kirk is one of four players in the country to have a perfect stolen base percentage and has yet to be thrown out on the basepaths this season. Out of those four players, Kirk is the only one to have more than 20 stolen bases, currently sitting at 25 stolen bags. Only six players in the country have more stolen bases than Kirk.
