ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s
Daviciea McCartney and Tarleton State’s
Jacob Thomas have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for the meet week ending Sunday, March 23.
McCartney showcased his skills at the 2025 Willie Williams Classic, securing the top spot in the 400m hurdles with a swift time of 50.69. This impressive performance places him third nationally in the NCAA rankings and leads the WAC. McCartney also delivered a strong showing in the 110m hurdles, where he captured third place with a time of 14.03, leading the WAC and ranking 23rd in the NCAA.
Thomas, a junior, starred at the Clyde Hart Classic, where he achieved a first-place finish in the pole vault, clearing a height of 5.0 meters. This achievement ranks him 44th in the NCAA and third in the WAC for the pole vault.
