ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington's Andres Medus and the Grand Canyon duo of Jonathan Da Silva and Brice Patoux have been named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Tennis Players of the Week, for the competition week ending on Sunday, March 30.

Sophomore Andres Medus demonstrated resilience in singles play, playing a crucial role in a closely contested match against Wichita State at the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex. Despite the Mavericks ultimately falling 4-3, Medus secured one of the team’s two singles points with a hard-fought victory of 6-3, 5-7, 6-1 on Court 2. His performance improved his impressive singles record to 11-5, maintaining a strong presence on Court 2 with a 9-3 record this season. Additionally, in doubles, Medus clinched the doubles point with an 8-6 victory on Court 3, significantly contributing to their strong season record.

The duo of senior Jonathan Da Silva and sophomore Brice Patoux were unbeatable in doubles play this week. The pair played a crucial role in turning the tide for the Lopes during their Wednesday match against Cal Poly, rallying from a deficit to clinch the doubles point on Court 1. This victory marked a significant milestone as it was the program's first-ever win against Cal Poly. Da Silva and Patoux maintained their dominance in their Friday match, securing a decisive 6-2 win on Court 1 against Seattle U. This victory helped Grand Canyon clinch the doubles point early, contributing to a commanding 4-0 home win. The pair's success on Court 1 was crucial in Grand Canyon extending their winning streak to three. Their efforts led to crucial victories and raised Grand Canyon’s season record to 12-4.
