ARLINGTON, Texas – Southern Utah’s Arianna Ramirez and California Baptist’s Morgan McConnell have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Saturday, Apr. 12.
 
Ramirez, a sophomore infielder, led Southern Utah to an offensive driven series win over Utah Tech as Ramirez tallied seven hits in 10 at-bats for a weekend average of .700, tying for the sixth-best average in the country for players with 10 or more at-bats last week. Ramirez knocked two out of the park along with one double and racked up eight RBIs while crossing the plate five times herself.  
 
McConnell, a senior right-handed pitcher, collected two wins for California Baptist last weekend against UT Arlington, going 13.0 innings deep allowing only two earned runs off six hits while striking out seven. McConnell went the distance in Saturday’s game versus the Mavericks, allowing only three hits in seven innings in a 2-1 rubber match victory for the Lancers.
