ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley’s Landon Frei and California Baptist’s Julian Orozco have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, April 13.

Frei, a senior infielder, batted .375 with four home runs, 13 RBIs, a 1.000 slugging percentage and nine runs for Utah Valley in a 3-2 week that included a series victory at Grand Canyon. Frei clubbed three hits, including a home run, and drove in five runs for the Wolverines in a win at UNLV on April 8 before blasting two home runs to finish with five RBIs and three runs scored in an 18-2 seven-inning decision against GCU on April 12 to claim the series.

Orozco, a junior right-handed pitcher, made three relief appearances for CBU last week, posting a 1-0 record with a spotless ERA over 6.1 innings pitched. Orozco surrendered three hits and walked three batters while striking out nine. Orozco earned the win with 1.1 shutout innings and two strikeouts at San Diego State on April 8 before tossing 4.2 frames of one-hit baseball with one walk and seven punchouts against Pacific on April 13.
