ARLINGTON, Texas – California Baptist’s Valentin Soca and Tarleton State’s Gabriele Tosti have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for the meet week ending Sunday, March 30.

Soca made a remarkable appearance at "The TEN.” Competing in a field stacked with Olympic athletes, professional runners, and collegiate All-Americans, Soca broke the California Baptist program record for the 10K by nearly 40 seconds—a record he set at the Stanford Invitational last year. His new record time of 27:37.65 placed him 17th out of 22 finishers and marked the 15th fastest time in NCAA history and the fifth fastest of the season. His performance marks his first official event in a CBU uniform this outdoor season.

On the field side, Tosti shone at the Texas Relays held at Mike A. Myers Stadium. He claimed a bronze medal in the triple jump with a leap of 16.13m on his second attempt, placing him fourth in the NCAA and first in the WAC for the triple jump. This leap was just 0.12m shy of the school record set in 1977, making it the second-best performance in Tarleton State history. Tosti's achievement contributed to a record-setting weekend for Tarleton State, which saw four medalists and three new school records established during the event.
