ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon University’s Prosper Ekporere and Harrison Cornell have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for the meet week ending on Sunday, April 6.
 
Ekporere delivered a standout performance at the 2025 Battle at the Beach, held at the Jack Rose Track. Competing against a lineup of national-level athletes, he clocked an impressive 13.61in the men's 110m hurdles. This exceptional time not only established the season’s best mark in the WAC but also ranked him 14th in the national standings.
 
On the field, Cornell, a sophomore, dominated in the discus throw with a mark of 52.41m, the leading distance in the WAC this season. His performance in the hammer throw at the same meet reached 53.23m, earning him a sixth-place finish. This performance added to his strong season start, which includes an eighth place ranking in the WAC hammer throw from the Willie Williams Classic earlier this year.
