UTAH VALLEY MAINTAINS TIEBREAKER IN THE STANDINGS
Utah Valley and Grand Canyon remained deadlocked at the top of the conference standings with matching 12-6 (.667) league records following another week of WAC play. Utah Valley took two of three games at home against California Baptist while GCU won two of three games in Phoenix against UT Arlington. Utah Valley maintained its edge for the top WAC Tournament seed by way of a head-to-head series victory at GCU on April 11-13.
TARLETON DUO STANDS OUT TO EXTEND CONFERENCE WINNING STREAK
Tarleton State’s
Trace Morrison and
Brian Panneton completed a Texan sweep of weekly conference honors on April 28, being named WAC Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively following a series sweep of Utah Tech. Morrison batted .533 with two home runs, seven RBIs and eight runs last week, while Panneton tossed eight shutout innings allowing three hits and striking out six in a 3-2 win over Utah Tech on April 25.
ACU FINISHES OFF THIRD STRAIGHT SWEEP
Abilene Christian’s in-conference winning streak improved to nine straight triumphs after the Wildcats completed a third straight WAC sweep on the road at Seattle U. Following a 2-7 league start, the nine straight wins have vaulted ACU into fourth place in the conference standings. ACU has outscored opponents 83-38 during the winning streak, with
Zandt Payne batting a sizzling .515 with a .727 slugging percentage and 12 RBIs.
SAC STATE’S BROWN BACK AMONG THE NATIONAL SAVES LEADERS FOR A SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Kade Brown has earned 13 saves over his first 18 relief appearances in 2025 to pace the WAC. Brown also checked in second in saves in the latest NCAA Division I national statistics rankings from April 30. Brown has limited opposing hitters to a .150 batting average over 35.0 innings pitched, striking out 43 hitters while posting a 2.06 ERA thus far this season.
