2025 WAC SB Week 13 Release

THE 2025 WAC SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT FIELD IS SET
With one week remaining in the regular season, the eight-team field has been set for the 2025 University Credit Union WAC Softball Tournament hosted by CBU from May 7-10. The eight teams that will compete for a WAC championship will be Grand Canyon, Tarleton State, California Baptist, Abilene Christian, Southern Utah, Seattle U, UT Arlington and Utah Valley. The only seed locked in place for the tournament is GCU at No. 1 as the Lopes won the regular season title last week with a sweep over Utah Tech. The rest of the seeds will be determined following the conclusion of week 13.

NO. 24 GRAND CANYON SECURES SECOND STRAIGHT WAC REGULAR SEASON TITLE
For the second straight year, and for the fifth time in program history, the Grand Canyon Lopes have won the WAC regular season title following a sweep against Utah Tech. The Lopes have also extended their longest active winning streak in the nation to 17 games, with their last loss coming over a month ago on Mar. 22. GCU will look to four-peat at the WAC tournament in a little over a week and become just the second team to have four WAC tournament championships.

ABILENE CHRISTIAN CONTINUES TO CLIMB
Abilene Christian continues to march up the WAC standings as the Wildcats now sit tied for third after taking two games at California Baptist for their third straight series win. Lina Russo was awarded this week’s WAC Pitcher of the Week for two throwing two complete games against the Lancers and allowing only two earned runs across 14 innings. The Wildcats will end the regular season with a bang as they host GCU for the final series of the year.

SOUTHERN UTAH SLAMS TO ANOTHER SERIES WIN
Like ACU, Southern Utah has won its last three series, and four of its last five, after taking the last two games of its series against UT Arlington. The series saw an explosive game two where the Thunderbirds prevailed over the Mavericks in the ninth inning for a 20-19 win. This game saw the most runs (39), hits (42), RBI (37), doubles (18), total bases (76) and walks (14) in a WAC game this season. Southern Utah’s team batting average of .489 for the week of Apr. 21-27 was the best across the country.

UTAH VALLEY SWEEPS SEATTLE U
Utah Valley locked its spot into the WAC tournament, and ended a seven-game losing skid, with a sweep at Seattle U last weekend. This sweep marked the Wolverines’ first in a three-game road series against any opponent since sweeping Montana in 2021.
