WAC WSOC25 Release Week 5
UTAH VALLEY REBOUNDS WITH EXPLOSIVE OFFENSE
Starting the season versus some tough competition for Utah Valley has finally paid dividends for the Wolverines as they picked up the program’s first-ever victory over an SEC opponent with a 3-2 win over LSU last Thursday. The offense didn’t slow down the next match as the Wolverines kept the pedal down and exploded for five goals against Gonzaga in a 5-3 victory.
Faith Webber was awarded this week’s WAC Offensive Player of the Week for scoring three goals including both game-winning goals and a brace against LSU. The challenging schedule doesn’t stop for UVU this week, as the Wolverines will take on crosstown rival and No. 12 BYU on Friday, Sept. 12.
TARLETON STATE SHUTS OUT THE COMPETITION
Tarleton State picked up two wins last week against Texas A&M - Corpus Christi (2-0) and McNeese (4-0). The Texans’ victory over McNeese marked the third win this season where Tarleton State scored four goals. The Texans are tied for 25th in the nation with a +12 goal differential in 2025. Kaitlyn Flanagan, held their opponents to just six shots on goal in 180 total minutes.
TRAILBLAZERS COLLECT SECOND STRAIGHT ROAD WIN
Utah Tech notched its second consecutive road victory after defeating Idaho State 3-2.
Michelle Rodriguez scored the game-winner for the Trailblazers in the 88th minute with a header off a free kick.
Lacy Fox and
Lataya Brost also found the back of the net in the first half for UTU. The Trailblazers will continue their road trip and will look to become the second WAC team this season to take down Utah on Thursday, Sept. 11.
LANCERS RETURN TO THE WIN COLUMN
California Baptist made its way back to the win column after a week break with a 2-0 victory over Nevada.
Summer Allen and
Ava Westlund lit up the scoreboard for the Lancers with one goal each in the match. The Lancers are now 3-for-3 when the defense shuts out the opponent.
GARDNER BECOMES ALL-TIME SUU ASSIST LEADER
In Southern Utah’s match versus UNLV,
Whitney Gardner recorded her 13th career assist, making her the Thunderbirds’ official all-time assist leader. Gardner also moved into third all-time in SUU career points with 43.
