ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley’s Jose Luis Martin Montealegre and Kolby Sessions and San José State’s Gilberto Rivera have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Soccer Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, for the match week ending on Monday, Sept. 15.

Montealegre, a junior forward, tallied his first career NCAA goal to help guide the Utah Valley offense to a 3-0 victory at UC San Diego on Sept. 15. With the Wolverines ahead 1-0 in the 73rd minute, Montealegre earned a penalty on a run into the 18-yard box. Montealegre converted from the spot to open his Utah Valley goal account at 72:56 to push the Wolverines in front 2-0.

Rivera, a junior midfielder, was one of the best players on the field for San José State during a scoreless draw versus CSUN on Sept. 11. The Spartans controlled the run of play for much of the contest and the back line, led by Rivera in the defensive midfield, held CSUN to just two shots on goal in the match.

Sessions, a redshirt sophomore goalkeeper, continued his historic start to the season with a third straight goalkeeper of the week citation. Utah Valley improved to 6-0-0 on the year with a 3-0 shutout at UC San Diego, where Sessions registered his sixth straight shutout after logging five saves. Sessions is one of two goalkeepers in NCAA Division I men’s soccer who has six clean sheets thus far in 2025, and one of three starting goalkeepers nationally yet to allow a goal as of Sept. 16.
