2025 WAC Men's Soccer Release - Week 5

UTAH VALLEY ROLLS ON WITH ANOTHER WIN

Utah Valley remained the only unbeaten WAC team after improving to 6-0-0, while still yet to allow a goal thus far this season. The No. 16 ranked Wolverines became the first WAC program to shut out six straight opponents at any time during a single season after blanking UC San Diego 3-0 on Sept. 15. Both California Baptist and San José State have opened the year 4-1-1, while Grand Canyon checked in 4-2 after its first six starts.

SESSIONS’ CLEAN SHEET STREAK CONTINUES
Utah Valley redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Kolby Sessions has continued to impress thus far in 2025 for the unbeaten Wolverines. Sessions has registered an impressive 540 consecutive shutout minutes to help lead Utah Valley to an undefeated 6-0-0 start. Sessions was one of three goalkeepers in NCAA Division I with a spotless goals against average and with his six shutouts as of Sept. 17.

CBU EARNS A KEY WIN ON THE ROAD AT TULSA
Despite having a road showdown with national top-10 foe West Virginia cancelled last weekend due to field conditions, California Baptist made the most of a brief trip eastward on Sept. 16 at Tulsa. The Lancers scored two goals within 35 seconds of one another in the opening half and outshot the Golden Hurricane by a 12-4 margin during the second half in a 3-1 win. CBU striker Blake D’Agostino tied the conference scoring lead with a goal in his fifth straight match, converting a penalty at 9:58 to push the Lancers in front 2-0. D’Agostino improved to 3-for-3 on penalty kick attempts thus far in the 2025 season.

SDSU BLANKS YALE 2-0 TO BEGIN THE NEW WEEK
San Diego State slowed a four-match losing skid by earning a 2-0 shutout victory over Yale on Sept. 15. A goal by defender Christian Engmann just 2:57 into the contest provided the winning score for the Aztecs, with an 87th minute insurance goal settling the final score line. Engmann has made all three of his goals count this season, as each has been credited as a match winner for San Diego State.

SJSU GOALKEEPER GUERRA ALSO PUTTING TOGETHER A SPECIAL START
San José State goalkeeper Edgar Guerra has himself been impressive in net for the Spartans during a 4-1-1 start to the 2025 season. Guerra has registered shutouts in four of his six starts, including two straight at Sacramento State on Sept. 7 and against CSUN on Sept. 11, to rank eighth in NCAA Division I as of Sept. 17.
