WAC VB25 Release Week 4
ONE MORE ROUND OF NON-CONFERENCE PLAY
WAC Volleyball is entering its final week of non-conference play before intraconference matches begin next Thursday, Sept. 25. Some notable final non-conference matchups include California Baptist at No. 20 Utah and Utah Valley hosting No. 16 BYU. Tarleton State will host their final scheduled tournament of the year while the rest of the league hits the road for their final non-conference tournaments.
KNUDSEN NABS THIRD STRAIGHT WAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD
Utah Tech’s
Kennedi Knudsen has had a hot start to the 2025 season as the senior outside hitter has claimed the first three WAC Player of the Week awards including this week’s honor where she led Utah Tech to two sweeps in the Boise State Invitational last week. Knudsen collected the most kills in a three-set match in the WAC with 18 against San Francisco and 15 against Idaho State. Knudsen currently leads the conference this season in kills per set (4.29) and points per set (4.74).
ALL-TOURNAMENT HONORS ACROSS THE WAC
Five WAC teams participated in tournaments over the past weekend and all five teams were represented on their respective all-tournament teams: Abilene Christian’s
Hannah Gonzalez from the New Orleans/Nicholls Crossover, California Baptist’s
Eliana Posada and
Maddie Brown from CBU’s The Joust, Southern Utah’s
Addyson McArthur and
Aleeya Jones from NAU’s Lumberjack Classic, Tarleton State’s
Megan Hodges and
Madison Frank from the Islander Classic and Utah Tech’s
Taylor Snow and Kennedi Knudsen from the Bosie State Invitational.
WAC IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
UT Arlington and Utah Valley held the NCAA D-I lead in team service aces and team total blocks, respectively, while Abilene Christian cracked the top 10 nationally in team kills. The Mavericks’ 101 service aces and the Wolverines’ 121.0 total blocks both led the country in their respective statistics after three weeks of D-I volleyball. The Wildcats collected 171 kills last week, improving their season total to 523, the ninth-most in the nation.
