WAC VB25 Release Week 5

IT’S TIME FOR WAC VOLLEYBALL!!
WAC Volleyball has finally arrived and will begin tomorrow Thursday Sept. 18 with Tarleton State at California Baptist, Utah Tech at Southern Utah, and Abilene Christian at Utah Valley. UT Arlington’s conference play will start Saturday, Sept. 20 as it’ll host Southern Utah. The Mavericks are the defending WAC regular season champs after going undefeated in conference play last year at 16-0.
 
KNUDSEN REWRITES WAC & UTAH TECH HISTORY
Utah Tech’s Kennedi Knudsen became the first women’s volleyball player to earn four consecutive WAC Player of the Week honors after a stellar week where she recorded 85.0 points (6.54/set) with a .281 hitting percentage. Knudsen also broke the Utah Tech all-time kills record of 875 as she now stands alone in Trailblazer record books with 928 career kills and counting.   
 
BURKE BALLS OUT FOR TARLETON STATE
Tarleton State closed out non-conference play with its Texan Classic where they swept Arkansas Pine Bluff and Louisiana Tech. In the match versus LA Tech, Emma Burke recorded 11 kills with on 13 attacks for a hitting percentage of .846, the second-best hitting percentage in a single match (with 10-14 attempts) in the country and a Tarleton State D-I record.
 
WAC IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
After the final week of non-conference, the WAC has multiple teams and players inside the top-10 of national rankings which includes a few national leaders. Abilene Christian is second in team assists (675), third in team kills (730) and setter Rachel Koss leads the country in total assists (508). UT Arlington continues to lead the nation in team service aces (125) and is seventh in aces per set (2.36). Utah Valley also continues to be a blocking powerhouse led by Bella Wooden as the Wolverines are second in team total blocks (155.0) and third in blocks per set (3.23) with Wooden leading the country in total blocks (89) and sitting second in blocks per set (1.85). Utah Tech’s Kennedi Knudsen is sixth in total kills (214), ninth in kills per set (4.86) and ninth in total points (232.0).
