WAC VB25 Release Week 2

FOUR STRAIGHT DAYS OF #WACVB STARTS TONIGHT!
Tonight kicks off a four-day marathon of WAC Volleyball starting with Abilene Christian hosting Northwestern State and Utah Valley taking on San Jose State in the Hawaii Outrigger Invitational. Week two is filled with 23 WAC matches where each team will play at least three matches. Southern Utah, Tarleton State and Utah Tech will play their first home matches of the season with a tournament on their home courts this week beginning on Thursday, Sept. 4.
 
UT ARLINGTON SWEEPS THE BRADLEY INVITATIONAL
UT Arlington’s new era under head coach Tania Schatow is off to a stellar undefeated start after taking wins from Quinnipiac, Bradley and Western Illinois in the Bradley Invitational Tournament. Jalie Tritt led the Mavericks offensively with 43 kills (3.07/set) and 49.5 points (3.54/set) in the tournament. Mira Ledermueller was named the WAC Setter of the Week after recording 122 assists (8.71/set) in the opening week, the most in the conference.
 
UTAH TECH IS MONEY IN LAS VEGAS
Utah Tech began its season in Las Vegas where they finished second in UNLV’s Rebel Challenge. The Trailblazers went 2-1 with sweeps over CSU Bakersfield and UNLV along with an intense five-set battle with Iowa where Utah Tech nearly pulled off the upset, falling in the final set 15-11. The WAC Player of the Week, Kennedi Knudsen, tallied 15 kills against the Hawkeyes and 40 kills (3.64/set) overall in the tournament, leading the conference in kills per set.
 
WAC VOLLEYBALL IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
UT Arlington dominated the service line last week, posting the third most team services aces in the country with 34, only two behind the nation’s leader. Four different Mavericks collected at least six aces. Utah Valley is ranked fourth in the nation in total team blocks with 44.0, led by Bella Wooden with 23.0 total blocks which is also ranked fourth nationally.
