WAC WBB2526 Release Week 11

FIRST ROUND OF WAC GAMES IN THE BOOKS
The first of three rounds of WAC games have completed following last weekend’s contests and the top of the WAC standings is shared between Abilene Christian and California Baptist at 5-1. Southern Utah and Tarleton State share third place at 3-3, Utah Valley and UT Arlington both hold a 2-4 record, and Utah Tech rounds out the field at 1-5. Road wins have been hard to come by so far in league play as the home teams compiled a 16-5 record in the first third of the conference season.

ABILENE CHRISTIAN CLIMBS TO THE TOP WITH FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN
Abilene Christian claimed its third and fourth consecutive wins after defeating the top two teams in the WAC standings, California Baptist and Southern Utah. The Wildcats defeated the Lancers on the road 70-58 to hand CBU its first conference loss of the season and followed with a dominant 82-54 win over the Thunderbirds to keep the perfect 10-0 home record alive in the 2025-26 season. Abilene Christian has won eight of its last nine games with their last loss coming to Utah Valley on Jan. 3 where the Wildcats lost by just two points.

THE TEXANS TAKE TWO
Tarleton State cooled off the red-hot Thunderbirds as they took down Southern Utah with a strong 81-55 victory. Five Texans reached double-digit scoring led by Gia Adams who scored 20 points. Elodie Lutbert recorded 16 points and 14 rebounds as she became the first freshman in the program’s D-I era to have four double-doubles in a season. The Texans then held off a late charge from Utah Tech to secure their second straight victory 64-60. Jakoriah Long made 3-of-4 from beyond the arc to finish with 17 points and Shadasia Brackens notched her seventh double-double of the season with 13 boards and 11 points.

UT ARLINGTON ENTERS THE WIN COLUMN
After starting off conference play at 0-4, UT Arlington bounced back with back-to-back wins at home, defeating Utah Tech 64-56 and Utah Valley 59-47. The Reynolds sisters combined for 35 points against the Trailblazers led by Mila Reynolds’ season-high 17 points. Kira Reynolds earned her fourth WAC Newcomer of the Week award following a double-double performance against the Wolverines with 16 points and 13 rebounds. In her 100th career game in a Lady Mavs uniform, Nya Threatt recorded 12 points, five assists, three rebounds and three steals against UVU.

MAYES NAMED TO MID-MAJOR POTY WATCH LIST
It was announced on Wednesday morning that Abilene Christian’s Meredith Mayes was named to the midseason watch list for the 2026 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award presented by Her Hoop Stats. Mayes is one of 15 players from 26 mid-major conferences to land on the watch list and is the first Wildcat in program history to be represented on the watch list. The five finalists will be announced in early March, with the winner being announced around the Final Four.
