WAC WBB2526 Release Week 12

CALIFORNIA BAPTIST TAKES WINNING WAYS TO UTAH
California Baptist rebounded from its first conference loss with back-to-back road wins at Utah Tech 67-61 and Utah Valley 85-75 to take sole possession of the top of the WAC standings. The Lancers remain undefeated on the road in the conference season at 4-0, while the rest of the league combines for only four road wins in WAC play this season. Khloe Lemon led the Lancers against the Trailblazers with 16 points off the bench on 5-of-8 shooting from the field, followed by a career day for Shawnee Nordstrom who scored 21 points from seven triples on 10 attempts from beyond the arc against the Wolverines.

TARLETON STATE GRABS THIRD STRAIGHT WIN WITH DOMINANT FOURTH QUARTER
Tarleton State defeated UT Arlington 51-37 last Wednesday to win its third straight game in the homestand. The 37 points were the fewest number of points allowed by the Texans in a WAC game since joining the conference in 2020 and the least amount allowed in any WAC game since Feb. 24, 2024. The Texans held UTA to 0-of-15 shooting from the field in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Lady Mavs 17-3 in the final period. Gia Adams greeted her former team with 12 points and seven assists with freshman Elodie Lutbert landing one point shy of a double-double with nine points and 16 rebounds.

THUNDERBIRDS FLY HIGH AGAINST IN-STATE RIVALS
Southern Utah improved to 4-0 against fellow Utah opponents in WAC play this season with wins last week against Utah Valley 64-60 and Utah Tech 62-49. Brooklyn Fely swept this week’s WAC Player and Newcomer weekly honors after nearly averaging a double-double with 15.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. The WAC’s leading rebounder, Ava Uhrich, averaged 15.0 boards last week which included a new WAC game-high 18 rebounds against the Trailblazers.

ABILENE CHRISTIAN LOOKS TO EXTEND FOUR-GAME WINNING STREAK
With its lone game of last week against Tarleton State being postponed due to inclement weather, Abilene Christian heads into its next match at Utah Tech on Thursday with nearly two weeks of rest. The Wildcats have won their last four games and eight of the last nine, with the one loss occurring at Utah Valley by two points. The Wildcats have been perfect at home so far this season at 10-0 and all five of their losses have come within a 10-point differential. Abilene Christian has cracked the top-100 of the NET rankings, checking in at No. 95 as of Jan. 27.
