EKU, Tarleton State Sweep Weekly Football Awards

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The United Athletic Conference (UAC) has announced its weekly football awards for the week of Oct. 12 with EKU and Tarleton State sweeping the awards list.

Tarleton State’s Kaden Anderson collected his second Offensive Player of the Week award this season after leading the Texans to a 40-32 win over No. 9 Austin Peay this weekend. The senior signal-caller completed 22-of-34 passes for 347 yards and three touchdowns while adding in 19 yards on the ground.

Kaleb Brown was the lead disruptor for the Texans defense against No. 9 Austin Peay on Saturday night to earn Defensive Player of the Week with two sacks, a forced fumble and four total sacks in the team’s win. The fifth-year linebacker was the only UAC player this week with 2.0+ sacks.

EKU’s Devin Orr earned Specialist of the Week after he sealed the 30-20 victory over West Georgia Saturday night. The junior place-kicker went 3-for-3 for field goals, all coming in the fourth quarter, including a new career-long from 48-yards out.

Ryder Hooks took home Freshman of the Week after he returned two kicks for 48 yards, including a 29-yard return to put EKU in prime field position to score in the second half, ultimately being the game-sealing drive.
