UAC Volleyball Preview - Oct. 13

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., - The United Athletic Conference (UAC) highlights the Volleyball upcoming competition for the week of October 13.

Abilene Christian will head out east for a pair of matches against Austin Peay and EKU. ACU swept the Govs in their first matchup back in Abilene on Oct. 1. The Wildcats are currently in a three-way tie for second in the UAC standings at 4-2.

Austin Peay plays back-to-back this week as it will host ACU on Thursday and then head to Florence to take on North Alabama on Friday. The Governors are one of three teams with a 2-4 conference record through three weeks of UAC competition.

Central Arkansas has flipped the switch in league play as the Bears have won four of their last five matches and are tied for second in the standings with a 4-2 record. The Bears will stay at home for matches with Little Rock and Tarleton State this week. UCA defeated the Texans at Stephenville in their first matchup 3-2.

EKU continues to roll after claiming their 11th consecutive victory and fifth straight win in sweeping fashion. The Colonels have not lost a set since their first conference match against UCA on Sept. 24. The hot streak has moved EKU to 46th in the NCAA RPI rankings. The Colonels will look to stay hot against West Georgia and ACU this week.

Little Rock kicks off the new week with the Governor's I-40 Showdown rivalry matchup against UCA on Tuesday and will then return home Thursday to host Tarleton State. The Trojans hold a 2-4 conference record, tied for sixth in the UAC.

North Alabama had a three-game winning streak snapped after running into EKU last Saturday but will look to bounce back this week with a pair of home contests against UT Arlington and Austin Peay. The Bears defeated the Govs 3-2 in Clarksville last week.

Tarleton State rebounded from three straight losses with a dominant sweep over ACU last Saturday and will look to carry the momentum on the road at Little Rock and UCA this week. The Texans sit in the middle of the UAC standings at 5th place with a 3-3 conference record.

UT Arlington is coming off a 3-1 win against Little Rock last Saturday, splitting the season series with the Trojans. The Mavericks will complete their road trip this week with matchups against North Alabama and West Georgia. UTA is looking for the season sweep against the Wolves on Saturday.

West Georgia is looking to break through for its first UAC victory and will have two more chances this week as they host EKU and UT Arlington.
