Tarleton State Named No. 1 Team in FCS, Austin Peay Moves Back into Top-10

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - There’s a new No. 1 in FCS with Tarleton State taking the top spot in both the AFCA Coaches Poll and the Stats Perform FCS Top-25 Poll, it was announced Monday.

The Texans, who are one of three teams left in FCS to remain undefeated, claim No. 1 in both polls for the first time in the program’s history. Tarleton State defeated Central Arkansas this week following a five-touchdown performance from Kaden Anderson to move to 7-0, the second consecutive season the Texans have gone the first half of the season unblemished.

Austin Peay moved back into the top-10 in both polls following a 24-10 win over West Georgia this week. The Govs are one of the most dangerous offenses in the country with a 165.43 team passing efficiency while quarterback Chris Parson has accounted for 20 of Austin Peay’s touchdowns this season.

While West Florida clocked in at No. 23 in the AFCA Coaches Poll and Abilene Christian was the first team out of the list with 26 votes, both the Argos (45) and Wildcats (86) received votes in the Stats Perform FCS Top-25 Poll this week.
