CALIFORNIA BAPTIST EXTENDS WAC STANDINGS LEAD FOLLOWING FIFTH STRAIGHT WIN
California Baptist got its revenge on Abilene Christian by handing the Wildcats their first home loss of the season in a tight 74-71 battle. With the win against ACU, the Lancers grew their lead in the WAC standings to two games over the Wildcats and extended their winning streak to five games. Khloe Lemon averaged 22.0 points per game for the Lancers last week, scoring a game-high 25 points against ACU and 19 points against Tarleton State. Lemon shot 58.8 percent from beyond the arc, making 10 shots from deep on 17 attempts. Filipa Barros collected her WAC-leading 10th double-double of the season against the Texans, notching 22 points and 13 rebounds in the game.
 
LADY MAVS WIN TWICE IN OVERTIME
A full 40 minutes wasn’t enough to decide the outcomes of the UT Arlington women’s basketball games last week as both Lady Mavs games went into overtime with the contest versus Utah Tech going into double overtime. Five Lady Mavs finished with double-digit scoring in the 84-78 2OT victory over the Trailblazers led by Kira Reynolds who recorded her 7th double-double of the year with a team-high 20 points and 15 rebounds. Reynolds and Laura Bello then led UTA to their second straight overtime victory with 17 points apiece in a 60-59 nail-biter over Utah Valley.
 
TARLETON STATE ERASES 18-POINT DEFICIT AGAINST THE THUNDERBIRDS
Down 18 points, Tarleton State completed the largest comeback in its D-I era to knock off Southern Utah for the second time this season 59-57. The Texans trailed early in the second quarter 28-10 but finished the quarter on a 18-4 run to cut the deficit to down four at the half. The Texans forced Southern Utah into 18.8 percent shooting in the third quarter and ended the period on a 14-1 run to push out to the lead. Down by one in the final minute, the WAC Newcomer of the Week Elodie Lutbert knocked down the go-ahead jumper to put the Texans ahead. Jakoriah Long led the team with a season-high 24 points and Caroline Lyles secured her first collegiate double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.
 
HULL LEADS ABILENE CHRISTIAN TO A PAIR OF VICTORIES WITH 20-POINT PERFORMANCES
Abilene Christian’s Payton Hull put down the two highest scoring performances in the WAC last week with 27 points against Tarleton State and 28 points against Utah Valley, leading the Wildcats to victory in both games. The WAC Player of the Week averaged 24.7 points across three games last week and made over half of her attempts with 55.8 percent shooting from the floor (24-of-43). Hull continues to lead the WAC in overall scoring (17.9/game) and holds the most 20-point games in the league with 10 on the season.
