ARLINGTON, Texas – Abilene Christian’s
Andruw Villa and
Rhet Punt have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, for the competition week ending on Sunday, Feb. 8.
Villa, a sophomore, claimed first place in the Charlie Thomas Invitational 5,000-meter run with a personal best of 14:09.54, a time that puts him atop the WAC performance list. Villa outran the competition by nearly 12 seconds and beat competitors from Texas A&M, Texas State and Rice.
Punt, a junior, finished fourth in the Charlie Thomas Invitational weight throw with a season-best toss of 19.87 meters, the best throw in the WAC this season by over a meter. Punt moved into the No. 2 spot on the all-time ACU rankings in the event.
