WAC WBB2526 Release Week 13

ONE HALF DOWN, ONE HALF TO GO
As the 2026 calendar flips to February, the WAC reaches the halfway point of league play with each team having at least eight games left to play before the conference tournament rolls around on March 11. California Baptist continues to lead in the WAC standings with an 8-1 conference record, remaining perfect on the road in WAC play at 4-0. Abilene Christian, the only team to defeat the Lancers in conference play so far, sits second in the standings at 6-2 with three games coming up this week including the rescheduled game from Jan. 24 against Tarleton State on Tuesday. Southern Utah rounds out the top three in the WAC standings at 7-3, already matching its win total in conference play from last year.

SOUTHERN UTAH SOARS TO FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN
The Thunderbirds are winners of four straight as Southern Utah secured its biggest WAC win of the season with a 71-68 victory over Abilene Christian on Saturday, handing ACU just its second conference loss of the season. The Thunderbirds were out for redemption after falling to the Wildcats in the first matchup 82-54. Brooklyn Fely grabbed her second straight WAC Newcomer of the Week award with a monster double-double against ACU with 26 points and 17 rebounds, both career highs. Junior Ava Uhrich joined the 1,000 career point club on Thursday in the 77-68 victory over UT Arlington where she dropped a career-high 30 points against the Lady Mavs on 9-of-11 shooting from the field.

LANCERS EXTEND STANDINGS LEAD AFTER BARROS’ CAREER GAME
California Baptist concluded the first half of the conference season at the top of the league standings at 8-1 after an 83-55 victory over UT Arlington where this week’s WAC Player of the Week, Filipa Barros, scored a career-high 32 points against the Lady Mavs, the most points scored by a WAC player this season. Barros shot 75 percent from the field (9-of-12) and made eight 3-pointers on 10 attempts in the game. Her 80 percent shooting from beyond the arc was tied for the nation’s best 3-point percentage in a game with at least 10 attempts. The eight 3-pointers are the most in a game by a WAC player since her teammate Khloe Lemon tied the WAC record of 11 3-pointers made last year on Jan. 11, 2025 versus Utah Valley.

TARLETON STATE NOTCHES 1,000TH PROGRAM WIN
The Tarleton State women’s basketball program eclipsed the 1,000 wins mark as a senior college on Saturday with its 63-45 victory at Utah Tech. The Texans’ defense held its opponent to under 50 points for the fifth time this season, the most in the WAC. The Texans are 4-1 in those contests. Jakoriah Long scored a season-high 20 points to lead all scorers and Caroline Lyles matched a career-high 14 points to go with a career-high nine rebounds.
